Guidelines for hiring contract services

HIRING CONTRACT PROVIDERS

Following steps should be followed by management once they have decided to have a particular
service on contract:
• Put out tenders to at least three contractors and compare them.
• Check the credit-ability of the contractor in existing market by contacting previous or
current clients.
• Preferably select a contract provider with a local office.
• Check on the type and training provided to workers.
• Check the degree to which the contract service provider undertakes supervision of work.
• Have contract specification.
• Consider effect on existing labor with regard to possible redundancy and redeployment.
